Idunda Girls’ Hostel

Idunda Secondary School, located in Mufindi district council was handed over to the community

in November 2025. Idunda's hostel offers the same 104 safe places to girls, serving a school of

380 students in 2026.

Both Msanga and Idunda hostels were built using Lyra's signature Green Hostel design, an environmentally friendly,

low-carbon construction method using Interlocking Stabilised Soil Blocks (ISSBs). Soil tested at

Idunda was found ideal for producing these blocks, which offer up to 80% higher compressive

strength than traditional burnt bricks, require only 5–10% cement, and are manually compressed

and air-cured rather than fired, a far greener and more sustainable alternative.

When we invest in girls' education, we invest in the future of an entire community. A heartfelt
